Welcome to our first blog post from The SteakVine.
Let’s start with making sure we’re all on the same page:
- We love steak
- London’s steak industry is booming
- A good steak restaurant is expensive but worth it
Does anyone else head to their favourite restaurant when they want to celebrate? We certainly do! We won’t disclose just yet which restaurant that is because we wouldn’t want to show any favouritism 🙂
When we have something to celebrate we love to get our friends and family together and celebrate over a few glasses of wine and delicious food.
There’s no denying that steak is not easy on the wallet, yet we love it and pay for it. Why? Do we fork out the extra cash purely because of the taste and eating experience? Is it because the restaurants make us feel great? Is it because we know we can rely on the quality of the food and have it cooked to perfection in line with our tastes? We will be exploring all of this on SteakVine!
Today we wanted to share with you our favourite excuses to wine and dine on Cow in the Capital:
There’s nothing better than sharing your favourite restaurant with the people you love the most. Passion for these restaurants is passed from one person to the next, it’s amazing how it works that way. Word spreads and before you know it, people have had enough of hearing you talk about this wonderful place, take the plunge and never look back. When the right occasion – an anniversary or birthday – pops up, they go for their first experience of fine dinning at one of London’s top steak restaurants. Life is never the same again!
2. New Job
New jobs are life changing decisions that will shape your future. These deserve to be celebrated. Will you have ribeye, sirloin, champagne or cocktails? The choice is yours… We’ve even seen companies give Hawksmoor vouchers as leaving gifts or bonuses for staff. A life changing decision deserves to be honoured with a memorable meal, over which you can raise a glass, toast to your future and tuck in. The delightful waiters might even convince you to have a dessert… Ooh go on then, when in Rome and all that
3. Exploring New Lands
The first thing we like to do when we go to a new country is find the best steak in town. We’ve found cosy backstreet restaurants in Budapest serving it up with blue cheese sauce and baked potatoes. Mountain restaurants in the Basque Country in Spain, serving the biggest, juciest and most reasonably priced steak we’ve ever had. Pinxtos bars on cobblestone streets in San Sebastian, Spain that serve delicious 2-bite servings of steak on fresh bread straight from the grill – a perfect bar snack. Paris offers a huge array of choice with Steak Frites being one of the nation’s favourite meals. We cannot wait to go to Argentina we’ve heard amazing things – so much choice, aren’t we a lucky bunch?
4. Restaurant Opening
One of the crucial ingredients for a successful steak restaurant is the quality of staff and service provided. For this reason, many steak places give free places at opening nights so they can receive your valuable feedback in exchange for a good old feeding and watering. You have to be signed up to their mailing lists and have your hand hot on the buzzer to grab these highly desirable places. Best of luck, I hear there’s a new Hawksmoor opening up shortly..
5. Treating Yourself
Sometimes we just want to treat ourselves. Perhaps you’ve had a tough week, hit a milestone on your diet, had a big workout in the gym, or just really fancy a steak. Either way, it’s treating ourselves to life’s luxuries that makes the world a better place, puts a smile on our faces and makes us feel good.
Go on, you are worth it
We would love to know your views on the poll – what’s your most common reason for heading a steak treat?
